Information Integrity

When information integrity is honored the information produced should be unchanged from its source and should not be accidentally or intentionally modified, altered, or destroyed. The internet is full of misleading and malicious information that is created when users do not properly follow the guidelines of information integrity. There are no strict laws in place for monitoring users when sharing information online, so it is up to the online community to use caution when surfing. Information Integrity can also be referred to Data Integrity.

Integrity

Integrity has two main definitions. One is that it is the adherence to moral and ethical principles and the other is the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished. So according to these definitions such information must be created with a certain level of honesty in accordance with the labeled function of the information. Integrity in an online environment has a lot to do with the user, everyone online has a different level of online integrity.

Social Networking sites are the best online environments to observe typical behavior online in terms of ethics and integrity.

Online Ethics

In present day most useful information can be found online. The level of ethical accountability is significantly lower on the online environment compared to real world ethics. The online environment is the easiest domain to create and spread misleading or malicious information due to the lack of security.
