Chihiro Jimbo

Chihiro Jimbo (born April 11, 1990) is a senior undergraduate student studying informatics and anthropology.

Early life

Chihiro Jimbo was born in Tokyo, Japan on April 11th, 1990 to Masahito Jimbo, a family physician, and Mitsuko Jimbo. She was their second child, five years younger than brother, Masaya Jimbo.

The Jimbo family moved from Tokyo to Philadelphia, PA when Chihiro was three years old. Chihiro began to learn the violin, which she ended up studying for twelve years. The family frequented the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences and the Philadelphia Museum of Art on weekends, contributing to Chihiro's growing interests in archaeology, paleontology, and the Arts.

The family moved again, from Philadelphia to Southern Pines, NC when Chihiro was six years old. Through the father's residency at the local hospital, the family was able to obtain green cards. Upon receipt, the family moved back to Philadelphia.

When Chihiro was fifteen years old, the family made a final move to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Chihiro attended Greenhills School, where she played tennis and competed in regional competitions. In 2008, she was accepted to the University of Michigan. Chihiro majored in anthropology for her first three years. After taking a programming class in her junior year, she decided that she would like to pursue a degree in the field and found informatics, where she could apply her skills in anthropology. She now pursues a double major in archaeological anthropology and social computing informatics. She would like to continue to graduate studies in osteological archaeology and human-computer interaction.

Interests

Chihiro enjoys reading nonfiction, particularly true crime. She is an avid student of Aikido.
