Hey Travis!

I really enjoyed reading your Facebook Avatar analysis, it was very refreshing to read your piece from a third person perspective because it was almost like I could see your thoughts as you were going through your profile. I know I struggled to find out what to write about myself and this was a good way of putting that into writing. I can relate to many of the things you wrote about, in my piece I wrote about the turning point of my Facebook page once I met my girlfriend as well. It was especially funny and relatable when you brought up how your girlfriend has an "incessant need to document their every doing together with the camera on her phone" because that is my opinion as well. Although I feel like your piece would have been more engaging if you laid out the progression of your Facebook profile, so we could kind of get a mini narration of your life going back to when your account was created.

Other than that I thought that your pictures complimented your writing very well. However, I think that Professor Conway told us that the standard Michigan info boxes were not as useful for Facebook Avatars(Even I had used it earlier!)

Hi Travis!

I really liked the third place point of view, it added a lot of flair to your piece. I also liked how in your introductory paragraph you described a story of how you came to describe three sections that you chose. I particularly loved the sentence, "If he didn’t interact with them extensively in real life, he didn’t accept their friend request, and deleted friends who’s posts he frequently found annoying or just begging for attention". This, according to you, is one aspect of your real true self that you have maintained on Facebook. You really went to great lengths and depths to describe your Facebook avatar and then analyzed how both your online and offline lives coincided together, but not fully.

You could have improved your piece by drawing on the Smith readings that Professor Conway has mentioned. If you could maybe describe a principle to further justify your claim that your online and offline lives are similar, that would really enhance your avatar assignment. Your use of pictures gave nice touch to the writing! Overall, great job!
