Hi Tom,

First off, I think your style works for the content you are discussing. Your tone comes off as sarcastic and a little reserved which matches on to how you see your avatar as witty and self-aware. Furthermore, your casual style shows how natural you and your avatar represent each other. You do a great job in describing what tools you like to use and how you feel they impact the impressions that others have of you. Overall, the reader can see a genuine image of your avatar and the types of actions he might perform on Facebook.

Ways to perhaps engage in the discussion of your avatar more could be to discuss inherent temporal discrepancies or problems that arise due to a lack of embodiment in relation to your avatar. You discuss whether you see your avatar as an accurate portrayal, but it might add more depth to bring up how even with an accurate avatar, one can experience issues. You discuss how in the past you have perhaps addressed these issues by purging periods of your timeline due to job searching or revamping your image. It would be interesting to learn more of the specific reasons or worries you considered when performing these purges. It can also be an interesting comparison when you consider how these issues come up in your real life, if they even do, and how you deal with them in that context.

Hey Tom,

Right off the bat, the layout of your page really stood out for me. You found a way to incorporate a lot of pictures without out it seeming cluttered. I also appreciate the fact that you not only gave background on yourself, but also included an in depth description of your introduction to Facebook. The way that you broke down the areas that you put most of yourself into (Music and Likes) and the way that you express yourself to other people (Photos and Status Updates) speaks to the way that you see yourself and the way that other people see you. I, personally, do a lot of sharing of music on Facebook as well. It is my way of putting my opinions on Facebook without offending people by making Status Updates on politics or religion. I find it really interesting that you said that your personality is in some ways exaggerated on Facebook, because I think mine is definitely more dull online than any place else. I've never purged my page, but I think it would add a lot to your page if you mentioned the reasons behind your decision to purge, outside of a job search. I have always decided that if people really want to look all the way back at my information and put in all of that effort, then they will probably find a way around my security settings anyway. Overall I can appreciate a lot of the different points you raised, and I enjoyed reading about your online identity.
