Talk:Targeted Advertising (Online)

The "Controversy" section of the article is written in such a way that it heavily slanted against online advertising and does not present information about the topic. It should perhaps be re-written in a way that lends a more neutral tone that defines issues within the field, without using terminology that influences readers in one direction or another. ~Lynette Wall

The "Opt-in vs Opt-out" section is also written in a biased manner, specifically toward the end where it talks about privacy violations and what "most people think." It needs a source to back up that information or to be re-written in an unbiased manner.

I was a little surprised that your original article did not include a section about Facebook especially after our avatar assignment, where some people even discussed how targeted ads help define their online persona. But nonetheless, I have added a Facebook section under Ethics because advertisers are able to gather a users data and use it for their own purposes, which could be seen as an ethical invasion of privacy. -Alissa Hans
