I fail to see the irony in your comparison of the origin of the word “avatar” and our every day use of the word avatar. The Hindu deities would descend upon Earth as manifestations or incarnations, but we, as modern day humans, use the word avatar in the same way just with a different medium: technology. We create manifestations of ourselves in the digital world. If anything, it is not ironic, but merely an evolution of the word’s associations with the advancement of culture and technology. You later use an analogy comparing your experience with Evolver to “doing a jigsaw puzzle with a twist.” I really like this analogy because I also experienced this “twist” when creating my avatar. Like you said, it is similar to putting the puzzle together but instead of the funky shaped pieces not working with each other, no matter how strange the piece is it can still be placed on your avatar, making the adjustment process difficult at times. As an avid comic book collector with Iron Man being my favorite hero of them all, I can definitely understand your reasoning for wanting your fantasy avatar to resemble Tony Stark. And as a comic book fan, I’ll give you a thumbs up for that reference.
