Hey Sadhana, your data identity statement was interesting especially the questions at the end of your identity statement relating to making us think about how much information is available. Also, the context of the voting also made it more relevant as we are all at an age where we can vote. However, there are a few suggestions I would like to make. The first one is that you have the results of your internet queries, and the last paragraph contains food for thought questions, but it would be a little more convenient for readers to link these two parts of your identity statement using some personal experiences. Also, this will give the reader a little bit more information about the intent of your identity statement and your message overall in terms of information security.

I really enjoyed reading your data identity statement! My full name is also very unique so it is easy to search myself up and find results only about myself. This also makes it a little scary, knowing that our information so easy find. I thought your essay was well written however, I feel you could add a little bit more emphasis on your “thesis statement” or purpose. Your introduction mentions your main purpose however, I feel like if this is explained more and also brought up throughout your essay, your statement will be more cohesive. It could also be a good idea to add a sentence or two mentioning the ethical context of your argument. I also think adding pictures will allow readers to really visualize the research you did on Google for this assignment. Giving a visual example of how searching your name results to mostly only information about you might be a good idea. I like that you have a section for Ethical Implications. Adding some information from lectures or readings might be a good addition to your writing. Overall, I think your statement is very thought-provoking and I look forward to reading your final draft!

Hi Sadhana! I had a very similar experience with my data identity in regards to what was public (address history, voter information, etc.) and what was better hidden (social media that was purposefully kept hidden). I think it could be interesting to discuss some of the more “personal” things about yourself that are ascertainable or not (personality, interests, hobbies). I would love to hear your personal opinion of how well someone could "frame you up" based on your data identity and within your data identity how well hidden/visible this is even if on social media. You bring up an interesting point though regarding how voter information is used and the tradeoff that it brings. Your grammar and flow is done well, however, I think you could add a little bit more to some of your points as I think it could add a lot to your statement! I would have loved to see an image or two to help support your writing. - Caroline Tuohy
