Paul, I enjoyed reading your post. I enjoyed how it progressed chronologically; starting with the “cringe-worthy” middle school posts and progressing to the modern day. One thing that allowed your post to stand out was your discussion of intentional measures to increase your privacy on Facebook. Your creation of a script and use of multiple Chrome Extensions is something I have never considered doing myself. However after your discussion of how companies use our data, this is a measure I feel I should take.

You effectively describe the authenticity of your online presence. As in the “early days", you freely posted and Facebook was close to an authentic representation of yourself. Now you explain how you have prioritized privacy over creating an authentic representation of yourself online. Therefore, I believe you assessment of the authenticity is well done.

The post seems to flow relatively well. Starting in 2008 and progressing to current times. However I think this flow could be improved by writing/reflecting more about how your posts and attitudes towards the site changed between these dates. For example, you could include a discussion of if your posts trailed off or abruptly stopped at once; instead of jumping from the early days to today.

Did you intend to use Authenticity as the central theme of your post? I think you have sections that effectively describe the authenticity of your Facebook content. The discussion of Facebook being your highlight reel is a section that comes to mind. However I believe delving deeper into the issue of Authenticity could improve your post. You could expand your discussion of authenticity in the beginning of the “Great Purge” section to tie in concepts of Authenticity from the Smith and Watson piece. This could make your post more centrally focused and even stronger.

As a whole, I think this was a solid post and your interesting angle to addressing privacy adds depth to your autobiography. Overall, well done.
