The article, “Internet trolling”, reaches the required word count for the rough draft. The words are distributed well between each subparagraph, offering a wide array of analysis. Though, I feel that each subparagraph may be too long. It may be beneficial to split them up an elaborate on each topic so that there can be more depth in the topic discussed. For example, in the paragraph about the streamer, Tyler1, you could separate the last paragraph from the rest to elaborate on how his influence as a popular streamer is causing more people to be toxic. Furthermore, in the second paragraph, you may want to add more about different systems of punishment for trolling. I feel that this article meets the first and second parts of this criteria. Though, there are claims made that do not have sources to back them. In the paragraph titled “Competitive Games and Ethics issues behind”, there is a part that contains information on how a player may receive dopamine from certain actions. This section needs a source to support these statements. There are also many claims made about trolling with no sources to back them up. For example, the quote “Trolling and flaming usually happen when player know they are losing, they realize there is no point to continue, but they need a way to unleash the eagerness for dopamine. Since it is known that there would not be harsh punishment, flaming the teammate who made mistake becomes the best choice” has no source supporting this while it makes a claim that trolling is the result of a need for dopamine. The author did a good job making the issue clear. I was able to see the issue and its ethical context very quickly. I found that at many points the author seemed to insert an opinion. There are many claims made with no source, so it is hard to tell if this information is objective or subjective. They also call Tyler1 “the GOAT” which is an opinion as GOAT is an acronym that stands for “Greatest of All Time.” They go on to say that gaming companies should be harsher on internet trolls, which would be an argument. To improve on this, the author may want to discuss the social impacts of trolling from both sides to show how it impacts people without stating that it is bad.
