It was really interesting to see that your Chinese name yielded absolutely no hits, as mine had several hundred thousand.

In all seriousness though, you do a great job of coursing through your sparse results and coming to a conclusion about data identity.

What's missing is two things: First, how might people take what information they could find (the Facebook profile, the LinkedIn resume), and what might they conclude about you? What impression of you would they be able to form based on putting these sources together? Second, have you arrived at a philosophy about how you would differently (or similarly) craft your data identity now that you have completed your search. Are there things that you are going to be more conspicuous about online now? Are there things you will bury deeper into the midst?

Alexa Gillman's Comments: Overall, I think you did a great job in assessing how well your online data identity corresponds to the real you. I thought it was interesting when you discussed how different aspects of your identity are displayed on different social media platforms and viewing only one would give a distorted image on who you are. I also liked that you discussed the ways you purposefully and unconsciously shaped your data identity, and the information about yourself that your data identity does not show. It gave the reader a better understanding of your personality. When discussing your findings from data brokers, it was interesting to learn how your background limited the amount of information you could find. To make your argument about ethics of online identity stronger, I suggest showing how researching your online data identity led you to draw the conclusion that showing false information about yourself is unethical. I also think that including more supporting evidence from class readings would help solidify your argument. In addition, I think you should add a references section at the bottom to cite the readings you used. To tie everything together, it might be beneficial to provide more details in your conclusion about your takeaways from discovering your online data identity and the affects it has on your actions online in the future.
