Hi Taran,

Great first draft! I thought your research and analysis were thorough, I especially liked how you used Google, and then used DuckDuckGo in Tor to compare the difference that cookies and location have on your data identity. It was fascinating to me to see that your global data identity was much weaker than your local data identity, however this could also be a side effect of Google's superior indexing and search engine ranking algorithms. Your data identity statement was well written and I thought you did a great job with your formatting and organization. Your writing was relatively free of typos, I was only able to find a few minor mistakes. I thought your main point that your data identity is largely controllable by you was strong and provided a good insight into the idea of online anonymity and the ability to control your online privacy. Your evidence supported your main idea well, as Instant Checkmate was not able to provide more specific results than your Google search.

Hi Taran,
I really enjoyed reading this. It is crazy to me that already as a four year old you were cognizant of your online identity. I know at that age I definitely was not! Using tor and DuckDuckGo is interesting, I think for my edit I will try doing that and seeing how the results change. Your tone is very clear and the writing was easy to read. I think you made good use of trying multiple avenues to find information about yourself.

In general I would say you could write more about your data identity being controllable. I liked the introduction to this idea but go further. How will you control it in the future? Will you try contacting the voter registry to remove your voting data? Did you change your youtube to remove your hometown, and do you believe that will actually remove that information from the internet? Are you going to contact databrokers to remove your information? Great job! I'm excited to read your final draft.
