Hi Margot,

Hi Margot,
I liked how in your introduction you introduced the sections that were to come! I would look into how to add links to references in media wiki for when you reference the readings from class. Could you discuss more in depth why your twitter does not accurately portray you and why it matters that your identity is not authentic? As for more writing suggestions I would be careful about not including too many sentences which distract from your current train of thought. For example, you mention talk about how excessive it is that 14 pages of the report are on sex offenders, which distracts slightly from your discussion of the privacy implications and accuracy of the report. You end the section with the sentence "I realized that maybe this was not very ethical". Could you add a sentence or two in this section discussing why this was unethical? Great start!

Great start!

Hi Margot,

It was great to read about your experience you had researching for this assignment. I hadn’t thought about adding my middle initial when googling myself, and I found that my results didn’t differ with or without it. It’s strange how you found different results between the two searches.

I was hoping you could expand more on why you were happy that your facebook and linkedIn appeared in your search results. For one perspective, it could be a sign how easy it is to find you. Are you happy because these are the best representatives of yourself? That’s what I’m assuming, but perhaps you can elaborate on that.

There is also a few things you can add in regards to the databroker section of your article. For one, you could add if there was anything inaccurate. If so, why would it be inaccurate? Or two, you can discuss where might the databroker receive this information? Why is it that you have 29 pages of information, while I don’t get any results under my name?

A last piece of feedback, I would suggest elaborating more on Hoffman’s quote. What does this mean about your identity? If it is socially constructed, is the only control of your identity by limiting what information is available to the public? What’s the difference between the identity you think you are and how others think you are?

I hope this provides some help with your revisions. Best of luck!
