This is a great start! The length of your draft was a few words more than 1000 words making it the perfect starting point to base your final draft on. You did a great job with the structure as well, as you have an Introduction section in which you introduce what you will be speaking about and touch on the effects that TikTok can have on someone’s brain chemistry. Additionally, the artical has a good body that consists of the History of TikTok, Dopamine, and the ethical implications of the effects that Tiktok can have on the brain. To improve this body section, I think that you could expand on the History of Tiktok by including its main features which can be tied into your ethical implications section where you talk about the “like” feature. I also think it could be beneficial to also briefly talk about the effects that other, older, social media apps have had on the chemistry of the human brain in past years. Lastly, in regards to structure, you included all reliable sources, most of which seem to be from health websites but you also included the video that we watched in class by the WSJ which I think is a great way to incorporate class lectures and material, I used that video too! Your writing is very clear and I was able to decipher the ethical issue quite well and why it is important that it is spoken about. From what I understand, the algorithm and features of TikTok have a way of altering our brain chemistry which is important because it can cause mental health problems, especially in young adolescents. Finally, I think you do a great job keeping the article extremely objective and unbiased, you did not argue for any particular side and just described the facts about dopamine and TikTok and also touched on the controversy in the introduction and explained it further in your section “Ethical Implications.” Great Work, I think you are headed towards a great final draft!
