The Mirai botnet is a network of Internet of Things devices infected with Mirai malware, used for massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Most notably, the Mirai botnet is credited with the 2016 Dyn cyber attack, which temporarily disabled the DNS provider Dyn, affecting services including Amazon.com, Github.com, CNN.com, amongst many others.
