Heres my 200 words on the legality of Denial of Service attacks (alejandro - from that one in class assignment professor told us to do)

Many countries have created new legislation that encompasses denial of service attacks. In the United States, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act has been modified to include Denial of Service Attacks in its jurisdiction. This is due to the fact that Denial of Service Attacks disrupts the normal functioning of a computer or network. The act was originally intended to punish those who perform computer-related misconduct, including hacking, unauthorized access, and other types of cybercrime. The penalty for breaking this act varies, but it can go up to 20 years in federal prison. In the United Kingdom, the Computer Misuse Act has also been modified to include Denial of Service Attacks within its jurisdiction. For the same reasons in the United States, criminals that break this law can expect to serve around 10 years in prison. (2) However, many critics have noted that the Computer Misuse Act has far outlived its original intentions. Many critics allude to the fact that the act limits the ability of security teams to conduct threat scanning. That, in turn, is putting businesses at greater risk of attack, they warn. (3)
