https://theconversation.com/millions-of-users-are-flocking-to-the-bereal-app-but-it-may-pose-free-speech-issues-192629 From what I read online, it seems that although there are no issues occurring at this moment with BeReal, people are concerned about free speech on the app. Some even equate it to Facebook's censorship and how dangerous that could be for political movements in the future. Additionally, the app has little clarity on its terms of use of what is allowed verse what is not allowed, therefore creating a gray line which could cause some issues.

A widely unknown area of concern is that BeReal is able to hold on to its users' photos up to 30 years and even use them in their advertisements and commercials. This could create privacy and personal issues who uploads an embarrassing photo or a photo with private information on it that other people could use to find their location or other sensitive materials.

Additionally, there are no child-proof settings in the app so it is impossible to block those types of images from the younger audience which has caused concern among parents. Furthermore, location is not automatically turned off and you can share your location with just about anyone in the app.
