He used his girlfriend and roommate as outside sources in helping him portray his reflection. He focused more on creating his fantasy avatar as he mentioned that he didn't want to care much about his own appearance. For his fantasy avatar, he didn't mention any outside sources other than saying that he simply wanted someone strong, fearful, and mysterious, a leader of sorts. He did, however, compare his fantasy avatar to a modern leader mixed with a warrior of old.

He mentioned that the Evolver software limited his attempt to accurately create his own reflection in that it didn't have give the avatar much "life". He goes very much in depth about how he couldn't find the right eyes for his avatar and because of that he feels a bit distant from his avatar. He did very well in describing how the avatar seem to just blankly stare back and not expressing any sort of realistic, non-forced emotion. For his fantasy avatar, however, he didn't seem to have any problems in selecting desirable traits but rather talked more about how he wanted the avatar to be. His gender-neutral avatar and strong, fearful physique seem to be exactly how he wanted to portray his fantasy avatar.
