Suddenly finger snapping breaks the silence, then stomping and strumming on a guitar. The woman, in a frilly shirt and neat skirt that falls to her ankles in abundant ruffles, gets up. Her hair is pulled back into a neat bun (like mine, I hope) with flowers and barrettes. She’s sporting smouldering red lipstick but doesn’t smile (note to self), serious and focused.
