I'm something of an enigma online. At least, according to Google and a couple of data brokers. Now that is not to say that I don't use the internet, I do. A bit much in my honest opinion, and I have since I was young. I've had social media since around 2008, used internet forums, online games, etc. Considering all this time I've spent on the internet it is a little strange that data brokers and google have very little information on me.

Since I was young my parents have drilled into me that the internet is a dangerous place. Never give strangers on the internet your name or address, don't tell strangers on the internet your age, etc. So from a young age, whenever a website needed information. For example, signing up for a forum. If it asked for a name, I'd give either a nickname (Willis, Saya), or I'd shorten my last name (Gesinski to Ges), or some combination of the two. The only website I can recall ever giving my full name to (aside from school or work-related websites) is FaceBook. My FaceBook is now private, but from 2010 to 2018 it was public. Showing my full name, date of birth, hometown, where I had currently lived, my place of work, where/what I was studying, and more. I find it slightly odd that no data brokers picked up any information in the near-decade that I had that information public.

Though, I'll now be taking a look at just what data they have collected on me, and whether it is really representative of me or not.

InstaCheck has no records of one Isaiah Gesinski, however, BeenVerified does have a record. According to BeenVerified Isaiah Gesinski lives on 11684 Garfield Ave. This is something that also pops up in a quick google search along with my voter information. This one piece of information, however, is pretty much the only thing that BeenVerified knows about Isaiah Gesinski. There's no age or birth date given with the record, no aliases, and only that single address given for Isaiah Gesinski's personal information.

What is interesting is that BeenVerified lists 18 relatives, 2 neighbors, and 1 associate of Isaiah Gesinski, and lists more of their information than that of Isaiah Gesinski's.

That is all of the information available from BeenVerified.

Search Engines

To make the search results as unbiased as possible I used a VPN, as well as clearing my cookies and using incognito mode on Chrome. The results I found were scarce, like that of the data broker's. However, there is surprisingly more available with a quick Google/Bing search than with a data broker. Between Google and Bing, I was able to find my FaceBook, which leads to a broken link unless you're signed in, and my voter information, which includes my name, year of birth, and address. I was also able to find my Linkedn, which has info I've given from my previous school and UofM, an account on voices.com stating that I'm a voice actor, and 4 articles from my previous school.

Who is Isaiah Gesinski?

According to Data brokers and search engines

According to voter information, he is 20 years old and lives in Lake, Michigan.

According to BeenVerified, he has 18 1st degree relatives.

According to the articles from my old school, he attended/attends Mid Michigan College, and has received honors for the 2017 and 2018 academic years. In 2018 he was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa.

According to Linkedn, he transferred to the University of Michigan in 2019 from Mid Michigan College.

Finally, according to voices.com, he is a professional voice actor with a wide range of talents.

The 'Real' Isaiah Gesinski

Excluding the information from voices.com, everything above is factually correct. I've never been a voice actor and don't know how that information came to be.

In his article "Importance of Privacy Revisited" Norman Mooradian states that "Taken by themselves, certain pieces of information do not communicate much about a person." With the information above, it couldn't be truer. The limited information given by the search engines and data brokers shows Isaiah Gesinski as a very one-dimensional being, they're only small bits and pieces of what make up Isaiah Gesinski. For example with the voter info, Isaiah Gesinski is just a name and age on a page. With the articles from my previous school, Isaiah Gesinski is an honor student. It doesn't go much further than that. Mooradian further states that "Taken together, however, they could communicate a great deal." This is also true. Put the previous information together and you start to get a sense of who Isaiah Gesinski really is. No longer just a name and age, or a student, he is a college-age student who goes to his local community college and has received honors. Add more information such as the relatives from BeenVerified and you get an even clearer picture. Isaiah Gesinski has 18 1st degree relatives and comes from a large family. Were I to add even more, such as a family photo you might get a sense of the size of Isaiah Gesinski's family and it's composition. Add a couple of my FaceBook photos and you would learn Isaiah Gesinski likes drawing and has a few too many Menards hoodies.

In conclusion, while the Isaiah Gesinski found by info brokers and search engines is the real Isaiah Gesinski. He is only representative of a small part of what makes up Isaiah Gesinski. The information provided doesn't communicate my ideologies, my heritage, my hobbies, my aspirations, or anything beyond a small part of myself.
