Talk:Samantha Thick

Hey Samantha,

I love how you talk about the various privacy features that you have used to your advantage on social media sites and describe them to help others better protect their privacy. I definitely didn't know about all of them and wasn't aware of some of the options that are 'on' by default. In your revisions, I think it would be useful to talk more about yourself. After reading your piece, I still feel like I don't know much information about you or whether or not you think the information that is available online about you is accurate. If I were your Facebook friend or followed you on Instagram, what would I see? What information do you put out there about yourself for your friends and family? I think it would interesting to explore these angles as a privacy-minded person.

Thanks for sharing! Hannah Engelman

Hi Samantha,

I really like how you talk about the privacy features that you use on social media. Not only does this provide reasoning for your search results online, but it is also informative for readers. I have the same settings turned on for my Facebook account, and it didn't appear in my search results either. While I think these settings are interesting, I think you can cut down on how much you talk about all social media and your settings on each. It does get a little redundant and I think it could be consolidated a bit. If you do this, you'll have more space to talk about your search results and how you feel about them. I feel like you could include a little more about how accurate these results are, and who Samantha Thick is to someone searching for you online. What sense of self do they see as opposed to your friends and family who have access to your social media, as opposed to how you see yourself? I think it would be very interesting to explore the intersection of these 3 versions of yourself as well as more insight into how you feel about your search results.

Overall I think this was a good report, nice work! Nell Steinmetz
