Your essay leveraged outside sources that highlight your knowledge and experience with Avatars. You displayed this knowledge by analyzing the different types of avatars one might create through different online communities. Most importantly, you leveraged your own personal experience with avatars in the online community to provide a unique analysis and understanding of how people actually utilize and connect with avatars.

While you did a great job incorporating outside sources and leveraging your personal experience, this resulted in your analysis of your self-portrait avatar being overshadowed by your difficulties with the idea a self-portrait avatar. At the beginning of your essay you claimed that you did not feel that a digital copy of your physical self could represent you; this should have been incorporated into your analysis of your self-portrait avatar. Did the experience change your mind? Or did it reinforce what your previously thought? Furthermore, in your fantasy avatar you emphasize that it is based on a character that you illustrate. It would have been nice if there was at least one picture of said illustration in order to compare your illustration to your fantasy avatar. You also said that you “believe that the main reason my rendering of a fantasy avatar went more smoothly is because it was based off of drawings and paintings rather than a real face,” but you never really explain why you felt that way.
