Comment from Caroline Taketa: Hi Mahir! Awesome job on your MediaWiki page! Your paper has great flow and the organization of each section makes it very easy to read. It is clear that you did a deep dive into the potential data that is (or is not) listed online about you and the assumptions that other individuals could make about you based on this information. I found the part where you discuss your TEDxTalk very interesting and relevant, specifically since you mentioned that it is missing from the first page of your online search of yourself due to a spelling error while many other students (myself included) are receiving significant quantities of information not on ourselves due to slight changes or autocorrect assumptions made by these search engines. Even more so, I found it particularly interesting that while your TEDxTalk does not show up in your Google search results, the thumbnail for the TEDxTalk shows up in the corresponding Google image search. You could consider possibly doing an analysis of why you think this is and looking into the privacy statements of TEDTalk to see if there is any evidence to explain why this could possibly be occurring.

I know you mention how you feel that the search results are “backwards” and your first page is information or data that you find to be less relevant to yourself. You might consider discussing this in further analysis and in relation to how your first results do (or do not) provide an accurate representation of your own personal identity. For example, where you discuss how your high school baseball stats appear before your UM, YouTube, and Spotify pages, you could potentially provide deeper analysis into how this might form a misrepresentation of your current identity or how these search results might have better suited a former version of yourself and your identity. Overall though, great job! Can’t wait to see your final statement!

Hi Mahir, I really enjoyed reading your MediaWiki page. The layout was great and the organization and flow of it was easy to understand and follow. I'm glad you were able to find a lot of good things about yourself, but I found myself looking for a central theme to all of this information, and if there was one, it wasn't entirely clear to me what it was. As this was something that was stressed to be important in class, that would be my main recommendation for something to work on between now and the final draft. Otherwise, I think you did a great job of finding a lot of interesting information!
