Morgan Cary's Comment

Hi Kevin, I thought that you did a terrific job constructing your page, as well as detailing your research. I too can understand, to an extent, the frustration of not having your information show up in a google search. It seems that I am not the most popular "Morgan Cary" out there. With this said, I believe that you did quite a thorough job of sifting through google in order to find any piece of relevant information you could. I was impressed that you were able to find your twitter account, and other forms of social media, and that you thought to search for your usernames, in addition to everything else. If I might make any suggestions, it would be to potentially add more relevant data, if you are comfortable doing so (such as a Linkedin page) in order to demonstrate your current online presence. All in all though, your draft was very well written, and constructed.

Hello Kevin, this was a very interesting piece, especially detailing the difficulty of finding yourself amongst other Kevin Zhengs. One thing I may suggest though would be to try some even more specific search results such as "Kevin Zheng University of Michigan LinkedIn" or "Kevin Zheng [insert a hobby of yours that may be tracked on the internet]". If these results lead to more info it would make your piece a little stronger overall. Even if this doesn't end in more search results you could use that as further evidence to back up your claim about how hard it would be for someone to find out about you online.

One small suggestion I would have would be to maybe include some sort of source in your "Introducing My Name" section to substantiate your claims. Finally, I would try to include more of a conclusion at the end. I think it would be helpful to include more reflections from your findings because you spend most of the piece talking about your findings. One example could be including a section where you talk about how you might overcome the large amount of names similar to yours and show up more in a google search.

Overall, this was a very good piece with a strong structure. You had good insights to what it's like to have a common name when searching for yourself.

Hi Kevin, your piece was very interesting and fun to read. The tone and voice you write in really pulls the reader in, providing a fun/entertaining aura to the reader. I thought it was good to explain why your name is common in the context of an Asian background--in particular, Chinese last names. Providing that explanation helps the reader understand the commonness and how that relates to the difficulty in finding information online about yourself. I also thought it was interesting how your friend came up during your google searches just because they tagged you in a photo. This also happened to me when I did my searches when I found links to a tweet in which my friend tagged me in. Some suggestions I have is trying more specific and advanced searches such as "Kevin Zheng Canton MI" or "Kevin Zheng with your high school name." Overall, interesting read!
