Talk:Grand Theft Auto IV

Seeing as my contributions show up as a big fat negative I thought I'd explain the changes I made. Most of them were minor reshuffling of information and rephrasing of sentences, with a bulk of the deletion coming from removing redundant information. A couple examples: drinking and driving information given both in the vehicles section and in its own section, lengthy information on weapons given in the gameplay section and in its own section, and the following from the prostitution section: "Prostitution is illegal in the majority of the United States and by implementing it in GTA IV causes the player to break the law." Given that the game is almost entirely oriented around breaking the law and that this is noted elsewhere within the article, I don't think it's necessary to point out that one specific activity is also against the law.

Just wanted to explain why I deleted what I did: "The content of this game, however, serves as a bad role model for the teens. How ethical is it to let this popular video game to land upon these tens of thousands of teenagers?"

The first sentence is pretty debatable, and thus not "objective" enough for a Wiki article. As much as I like to side with subjectivity, I think the great examples of controversy that you provide are vocal enough for the side that believes GTA is harmful for young people--of course, the voices on that side and the young people who commit GTA-inspired crimes are missing the point that the GTA series is satirical.

As for the second sentence, I don't think questions--including rhetorical ones--belong in a Wiki article. With rhetorical questions, there's especially too much of a risk towards bias.

Added the bar at the top right to give a better preview of Grand Theft Auto IV.

In doing so, I removed the xbox360 cover photo which took up the same space. The removed photo could potentially be utilized in a later section if you feel like it would add something to the article.
