I love how you compared your Facebook to a scrapbook. The concept helped put some of who you are into the writing and gave the reader some insight into your offline identity. It was also very relatable in that I definitely use my profile in a similar way. Your writing is also very honest in that you selected the elements you believed to most represent you online. However, I believe you could have done some more self reflection on why you do certain things online or how they display your identity. For example, more connections on how your Facebook has been like a scrapbook to you. The connection to different elements on your profile to your identity would make the connection of ethical acculturation a lot clearer and would help you show more of your identity. You provided great elements the connection could just have been a little stronger.

Although your casual writing style is a good representation of how you choose to represent yourself on Facebook, I believe you could have done a little more to carry the idea of Facebook as a scrapbook. Like I said before, the metaphor would have helped the piece flow better and helped you reveal more about your identity. Also, there are a few grammatical errors that could have easily been corrected with a quick read over once or twice. Overall, your idea of a scrapbook was innovative and was a great way to look at your Facebook identity!

Your metaphor for your use of facebook and scrapbooking brings together your offline, past identity and your current online-infused one incredibly well. You even included a picture of some old scrapbooks which surprised me. CLearly you put forth a great effort to reflect on your facebook usage in this assignment. Your style is pretty good, plenty of organization and illustrations help keep this a light read while being in-depth to each part of your facebook.

Similar to what Lauren has said however, I'd like to see a little more discussion on how you feel your identity on facebook reflects the "real you" or not. Right now, your theme seems to be mostly just about how facebook is your new scrapbook, but what did those scrapbooks mean to your identity before? Were they a happy-go-lucky highlight reel meant to portray all the good things that happened, or were they more authentic snapshots of points in time so you could remember your full experiences at the time? After that discussion, you could relate how facebook has or has not changed what scrapbooking means to you in terms of your identity. I really enjoyed reading this though. Thanks for sharing much of your page with us :) -Sean Thomas

Hey Casey, The idea of comparing your Facebook to a scrapbook was quite creative. I liked how you drew the audience in and used an informal, friendly voice. Your story was very well told and the humor was very cleaver, especially from the "winner of Facebook" story. Your breakdown of topics and definition of the parts of the social network was well thought out.

In terms of critiques, I would have liked to see a bigger picture at the top, and to make your name more prominent. The top of the page looked empty and did not tell me much about you, until I started reading. Since you talked about posts or status updates, I would have liked to see some more screenshots of examples or even quotes from recent posts that re-emphasize your points. I felt you could have compared your profile to what is generally accepted or what most of the other members in your network to. Reading forward, I would like to see bigger picture representation of your page and other things you may have liked. Your online personality, is very friendly and bubbly, so I would have liked to see more of how you used other applications on the web such as music or pages youve liked. Overall good job with analyzing your profile, I would like to see more color and screen shots.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
